at 5:00 a.m. on saturday october 16th i woke up with contractions that were steady and clearly different than the "braxton hicks"felt in previous days. By 7:00 i felt it was time to wake my darling husband to let him know our baby girl was definitely ready to begin her journey into this world. my water did not break but contractions became more consistent with 3 to 5 minutes in between. we loaded our hospital bags into the car, made one quick & very important stop at starbucks, and finally arrived at the hospital around 11:00 a.m. the nurse asked that we walk around for 2 hours before being admitted hoping this would allow for further dilation.
once we completed our two hour hospital tour, walking around the building several times, we were shown to our "birth room".
i was given a beautiful robe and made comfortable with the pillows we brought from home.
after several hours of back labor i reluctantly decided to get an epidural.
why did i wait so long?
from this moment, things moved along beautifully and baby jade made her grand entrance at 10:22 p.m. after i laughed [rather than pushed] her out. the medical team said this was a first!
