since birth jade has been thoroughly fascinated by toothbrushes.  we can not brush our teeth in her view as she will whimper & whine at our feet the entire time.  here you can see that somehow she managed to get ahold of mamma's toothbrush once again.  hopefully her love of brushing teeth will continue throughout her life!

great grandma becky [mormormor?] came to visit this weekend.  on friday grams & jade enjoyed a day of quality time, walking through the neighborhood and playing in the park.  on saturday morning we ate at bagels & brew, our favorite breakfast spot in aliso viejo.  below you can see jade "lounging" which is pretty much her favorite position.  

on sunday morning after bidding grandma farewell, we took the ferry from balboa to newport.  this was jade's first ferry ride and she loved it!  once we reached newport, we went for a short bike ride and spent some time with aunt lea & uncle trevor on their beautiful deck.  

we wrapped up the weekend with date night in a little seaside town called dana point where there is a small harbor with a company offering sunset cruises.  although calle did his best to discover the surprise in advance, he was unsuccessful in doing so and was pleasantly surprised when we boarded a small boat with a cold beer in hand and a beautiful sunset just beyond the horizon.  the biggest treat of all was the unexpected whale sighting just 30 miles off the coast.  we were lucky enough to see two full size blue whales and tracked them for about an hour.
