sexy shorts & a few bbq's

the weekend forecast initially called for rain, but with a shift in the winds and a modified forecast, we were ready for sunshine!  calle dared to wear his new shorts, sans flip flops, and we headed to our first stop of the day: a bbq on balboa island at the wonderful cottage home of andrea & evan [some of my favorite co-workers].
parking on balboa can be quite tricky, with narrow streets and many visitors, but somehow we managed to find front row parking at the raabe/poltorak home.  calle and i are a great parallel parking team; with me behind the wheel and calle providing visual distance of the car behind me, by way of very helpul hand gestures, we made it into the cozy spot in only two tries.
in no time at all calle was very much at home; barefoot with beer in hand.
since we had double booked our saturday, we sent only about an hour at bbq #1.  after a delicious hamburger, we thanked our generous hosts and hit the road...
or ferry to be exact.  since andrea & evan live only one street from the ferry, we were happy to take alfie for a little ride to the newport side of town.
as a side note:
this sailboat encompasses my dreams.  if ever we are financially sound and independently wealthy, i will learn to sail & buy a boat like this.  it's been a fantastical dream of mine as long as i can remember...
a few short minutes later, we were almost to the other side!
we arrived at "lt's place to be" [lea & trevor's deck] where lea was standing in as bartender and quickly made me a "virgin" mojito.
our friend trevor is slightly obsessed with purchasing items on amazon and most recently ordered a centellino wine aerator.  considering he had purchased one for calle as a birthday gift over one month ago, we were pretty surprised it took him so long to give in and purchase one of his own.  when the package arrived he was probably the happiest guy on the block.
this is a double action shot; the girls posing for a photo and calle smoothly operating the centellino.
we enjoyed trevor's famous and most delicious smoked ribs and then went for a bike road down to our old house on 52nd street.  another wonderful saturday passes us by in the blink of an eye!

  1. What a wonderful weekend! Love the sunny pics from Balboa island, our favourite. And if you ever buy a boat like that...we'll come and try it out!

You look so happy and in love and the baby bump is growing. What an exciting time for you lovebirds!

  2. Dear Nicole and Calle and growing family,

Fantastic to get the update, you seem to be having a great time. I have the song California Dreamin' on repeat on the computer

Love the wooden toys, but be prepared that toys aren't funny. Only forbidden things really make the baby happy (same goes for adults)

Carl, I zoomed real good on the picture, but I am sorry to say:"Can't see no third leg",
And I am not talking about the picture of the baby, I am talking about the one of you in shorts!

Love the shorts by the way. Is that pink you are sporting? Your father is probably having a fit about it.

All the best to Trevor and Lea.
