january weekend

the first three weeks of january have flown by without a single blog update.
sorry, toots!
nicole was taken out by the flu week one of 2010.
the second week of 2010 brought with it a lot more fun with a tailgate party at qualcomm stadium before the charger's played the new york jets. it was my first tailgating experience and even though the chargers lost, i loved it.
for those of you who don't know what a tailgate party is, here is wikipedia's definition:

"In the United States, a tailgate party is a social event held on and around the open tailgate of a vehicle. Tailgating often involves consuming beverages and grilling food. Tailgate parties usually occur in the parking lots at stadiums and arenas before, and occasionally after or during, sporting events and rock concerts. People attending such a party are said to be tailgating. Many people participate even if their vehicles do not have tailgates.Tailgate parties have become popular in the United States as social gatherings events that take place in stadium parking lots before football games. The use of the tailgate party has spread to the pre-game festivities at sporting events of all kinds (e.g. football, basketball and baseball) and is also used at non-sporting events such as weddings and other non-sports-related barbecue gatherings."

our neighbors had a sweet set up with a 50 inch hd plasma tv, blue turf, and enough chargers gear to fill up an entire moving truck.
manning the bbq and, more importanly, my beer.
the girls enjoying drinks in front of qualcomm stadium.
josef and trevor making burgers.

this game brought the charger season to an end but was just the beginning of our tailgating festivities.

after a few weeks of rainy & stormy weather, flu bugs and working weekends, we were delighted to wake up to blue skies this sunday morning.  we started the day with some house chores and then went to check out one of the newest properties purchased by kamran.
nicole was frightened by the paint colors throughout the home, and clearly did not approve of the high gloss burnt salmon & sand duo in the bedroom.  the rest of the house was worse, in many shades of mint green.  cotie was feeling green by the time we left.
after checking out the house we made our way down beautiful pacific coast highway, stopping off in corona del mar for some fresh sea air before making our way to "sol" for lunch.
cotie was very happy to be seated next to the window with beautiful bay views...
and i was happy to be seated across the table from my happy & beautiful wife.
[the bay views weren't bad either]
sol is a fresh take on classic mexican cuisine; fresh lime on carnitas was mmm mmm good!
after lunch we went down to our old beach front for a short walk but it was a bit colder than we expected.
another weekend passes by in the blink of an eye...
but before we say goodbye we must wish our mama lisa a very happy 60th birthday!
